So Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I just wanted to wish everyone well. Don't eat to much turkey and be careful on those early morning shopping trips if you venture out. I use to do that but, not anymore. : ) Wanted to give you an update on a recent benefit auction that I participated in for The Homeless Families Foundation. I was so excited once I received notice that the fundraiser was able to raise over
$90,000
Thanks to everyone who helped contribute. These donations will provide nurturing, stablitiy and support for homeless children and their families as they prepare to acquire permanent housing.

Thanks Again

Also a special thanks to Cathy of Tadpoles and Teacups for my award. Thanks for thinking of me. That was really sweet of you. Cathy is so talented I enjoy her work alot. Make sure you pay her a visit. I found this poem at http://www.poemsforfree.com/ that I wanted to share with you. Enjoy your day with families and friends and Remember to Give Thanks.

Thank you for the gift of life,

For letting me be me,

For all that I can know by words

And all that I can see,

For all the music I can hear

And all the songs I sing,

For all the joy that comes to me

And all the joy I bring,

For all the food that I can taste

And all the sweet scents smell,

For all the loved ones I can touch,

Who love and wish me well,

For all the beauty of the world,

Ever fresh and new,

I don't know whom else I can thank,

And so I'm thanking you.

Lend a Helping Hand

Hello All,

Wanted to drop a line about lending a helping hand. I know as the holidays approach we love spending time with our families and friends and enjoying great food and fun times but we sometimes forget those who may not be as fortunate as us. I know sometimes we all can't give money donations but did you know you can donate some extra craft supplies. I was surfing the web and found this great information on http://www.crafster.org/. Lend a hand to someone. There are lots of local places would love to have your un-wanted/un-needed craft supplies! Here are some suggestions on where to check~ local schools, retirement centers, boys & girls clubs, day care centers, churches etc...But if you still can't find anyone to donate your crafty stuff to here is a list of organizations that need or can use craft supplies. If you know of any more just post it here and I'll add it to the list! St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ~ Pick a craft, collect supplies, write out instructions and place everything in a zip loc bag. Crafts are given to patients and adults of all ages through the Happy Cart. Supplies you should avoid: play dough, live feathers, leaves, moss, dirt, glitter, and any food products like pasta or beans. http://www.stjude.org/volunteer-st-jude/0,2596,564_5436,00.html~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery ~ Bubbles, Pencil cases, Paint, Arts and Crafts supplies ~ A refuge for young children at risk of abuse and neglect, and a source of support for their parents.http://www.vanessabehan.org/sub.aspx?id=542~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Day of Art~ All craft supplies~ Assist organizations that aid the elderly, homeless, disabled and at-risk youth by providing informal social and developmental instruction through means of arts and crafts.http://www.voicenet.com/~fish68/~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Sew Much Comfort ~ fabric and/or clothing ~ Provides adaptive clothing for soldiers who have been wounded.http://www.sewmuchcomfort.org/~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Artists Helping Children ~ Art Supplies ~ Seeks to enhance the quality of life for sick, abused, or neglected childrenhttp://www.artistshelpingchildren.org/mission.html~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Binky Patrol ~ batting, yarn, soft fabric, notions ~ We make blankets and give them away to children and teens in need of comfort across the countryhttp://www.binkypatrol.org/~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Touching Little Lives ~ flannel, thread, batting, yarn, ream of paper, a roll of stamps, a box of envelopes ~ Provide clothing and necessity items to newborns, we also make and provide neonatal positioning devices(snuggles, snakes and frogs) to area hospitals as well as surgery dolls and stuffed animals.http://www.touchinglittlelives.org/~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~The University Student Fibers Guild in the Eugene/Springfield, Oregon ~ yarn, fabric, needles, hooks, etc ~ collecting and making chemo caps for local chemotherapy patients and garments for premature babies being cared for by the March of Dimes.http://www.geocities.com/uohandweavers/~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

From Our Hands Show

Hello All,

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to the From Our Hands Show. This was a good show. Everything there was just great. Loved the dolls, bears, and handcrafted furniture. It was good to see some familar faces as well as meet some new friends. Here are a few photos from the show. I was mad at myself that I didn't take better photos. I didn't get closeup photos of any of my pieces before they sold. : ( But, I hope you enjoy the ones I have to share with you.

Work in Progress in my studio

I was so excited. Got to meet Emily Franz (Hootin' Annies), Catherine D. Mahone (The Primitive Heart) and Cat ( Kattywhompus Primitives). They are really sweet ladies. I also meet Valerie Weberpal of Harvest Moon Designs. She has the best whimsical creations. I bought this adorable Kitty. She uses the most unique fabric combinations but they turn out wonder. She has kitties, dogs, santas, elves, and much more. All very unique. I know I will be buying more of these cute creations from her in the future. You can email her about her work at vjweb84@tbc.net

This is a photo of me and Jackie of Fat Jak Originals. She had the nicest booth. Setup so nice. She has the sweetest family and her kids are adorable.

This is a photo of me and two talented ladies. Jackie of Fat Jak Original and Susan of Middleburg Folk Art Studio. They had some wonderful things available at the show and their booths were just great!!

I will load photos of some of my pieces later.
Talk care, Elaine
