I can't believe that halloween is over and it is time for xmas. I will have some christmas pieces available for you this month. Be sure to check out spookytimejingles.com for new items.

I also wanted to tell everyone about an art class that I taught this week. I was asked by the Independence Art Guild to teach a class for there members. It was wonderful. Everyone left with a snowman that they created. I had a total of 30 participants all the ladies loved there snowman. I had the help of two great friends Ebani and Kim. You Ladies are sweethearts. Hello All,

I am so excited!! Summer is finally here in my neck of the woods and I am loving it. Its hard for me to stay inside these days. But, I am working on new creations to share with all of you. Also, I will be hosting a BLOG SALE this weekend so check back on friday for more information.

In the meanwhile, I wanted to share some photos of the Asian Festival my and I recently attended. We had so much fun!! This was an opportunity for me to learn more about my culture. Happy Spring!! Well, I thought spring was around the corner until I looked out my window this morning. Old Man Winter is trying to hold out a bit longer. We got about 10 inches of snow last night. But, my thoughts are still of Spring.

Being Eco-Friendly for the Holidays

Hello All,

I hope everyone enjoyed had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I enjoyed my spending time with my family. Usually one of our family traditions is to start putting up our Christmas decorations together. One of my favorites Christmas decorations is the wreath. I think wreaths add so much to a room or an outdoor setting.

Holiday wreaths made from boxwood or pine, mini bottle brush ornament wreaths, feather wreaths, and wreaths made of vintage ornaments — yes, yes, yes, and yes, please! But, my latest enjoyment is falling head over heels for are paper wreaths, which are fantastic because they’re usually inexpensive to make, and you can use recycled material!
Here are a few of my favorite paper wreath tutorials. I don’t know about you, but my family and I will be creating some of these of this Christmas Season!

Lindsay from Living with Lindsay shows us how to make an awesome wreath using pages from a book that she bought at the dollar store. I can’t get over how beautiful this wreath is for how inexpensively it was made, and I’ve already got a thrift store book ready to make my own – spotted on Dollar Store Crafts :

Use cut strips of patterned paper to create the lovely looped paper wreath over at Razzle Dazzle Crafts – spotted on Folding Trees :

Use gift wrap, patterned paper, magazine pages, etc. to make the oh so pretty paper leaf wreath by Lisa of The Red Thread:

You can use whatever type of papers you’d like examples(unused gift wrap, old books, old yellow pages, newspaper, sales papers, old sheet music)!

What's New In June

Congrats to the Class of 2010

Happy June All,

This is a busy month for me. Many fun and exciting things have taken place. First off my son went to prom, and graduated from High School. YAY!! I am such a proud momma. He will be headed off to college this fall. He plans to study Biological Science. He wants to become an Anesthesiologist. I am so excited for him.

As far as my art goes. My studio time hasn't been as busy as I wanted it to be this month but I am back on track working on special orders and online websites. This month, on June 13th, you'll find some new and exciting things going on at Spookytimejingles!

1. ~ for this month, the time for our update will be changed on June 13th to at or around NOON!!!
2. ~ this month we celebrate the Red, White and Blue with our Americana Hootenanny, so you'll see additional pieces added to the collection. This is in addition to our Halloween and Christmas offerings.

Okay, the snow is finally here. We had the entire month of December and no snow. I was so thrilled. But, I guess January is playing catch up. Hello all,

Happy New Year!!! Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday season. The family and I had alot of fun hangin' out with our family and friends!!

I wanted to share a bit of cheer with you this year. I was lucky enough to be selected to be in the Jan / February 2010 issue of " Cloth, Paper, Scissors".

Happy Friday,

I am working on some NEW pieces for PFATT and STJ as well as some magazine publications for next month so I will be busy for the next few weeks. I just wanted to let you know that I have Captain Jack's first mate available. He is really causing a rucus in the studio because everyone else has abandoned ship and found new homes and he is stuck here with me. So, he is ready to set sail.

Thinking of Fall

Hello All,

I hope you had an enjoyable Labor Day. My family and I spent the day at the fair. We had so much fun!! The children loved seeing all the animals especially the horses. The fairs always get me thinking of fall and all the fun that comes with Halloween. Where your imagination can go wild when creating pieces.

Let's see how many ghoulish words I can search for while I am waiting for Elaine to finish me up for PFatt on Sept. 10th. I know I can find some good ones.

It's the middle of August and the kiddies are headed back to school and I am busy in my studio working on Halloween pieces. I will post pics once I have them completed.

Hello All,

I know its been a minute since I last posted. I have been catching up on special orders. Come back and visit me on the 10th for some new pieces. But, here is my recipe for today.

Crispy Orange Beef

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 pounds beef top sirloin, thinly sliced

1/3 cup white sugar

1/3 cup rice wine vinegar

2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 cup long grain rice

2 cups water

1/4 cup cornstarch

2 teaspoons orange zest

3 tablespoons grated fresh ginger

1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic

8 broccoli florets, lightly steamed or blanched

2 cups oil for frying

DIRECTIONS:

Lay beef strips out in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. Allow to dry in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, rice vinegar, orange juice concentrate, salt and soy sauce. Set aside. Meanwhile, combine rice and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes, or until rice is tender. Add more water at the end if necessary. Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Toss dried beef in cornstarch to coat. Fry in the hot oil in small batches until crispy and golden brown; set aside. Drain all of the oil from the wok except about 1 tablespoon. Add orange zest, ginger and garlic to the remaining oil, and cook briefly until fragrant. Add the soy sauce mixture to the wok, bring to a boil, and cook until thick and syrupy, about 5 minutes. Add beef, and heat through, stirring to coat. Serve immediately over steamed rice, and garnish with broccoli.

Dollar Deals and Menu Mondays

Hello All,

I hope your had a great weekend. I was trying to stay dry with all the rain we got over the weekend. The sooth my raining day blues I decided to venture out and do a bit of thrifting. I was so excited when I found this piece. I just fell in love with I saw it. You won't believe what I paid for it. It was marked for $15 but once I got to the register. The cashier information that the special promotion tag for that day was the same as the tag on my wonderful piece. So my grand total was $1 dollar. Woo Hoo!!!! Man, was I excited!! I will be putting her in my office. I added the tiara.

Okay, I haven't forgotten about Menu Mondays. I just wanted to update you on a few things. Remember to see a few new designs on PFATT Marketplace on March 10th as well as on my blog. Just click on the link located in the upper right hand corner of my blog. I am thinking spring and will have alot more pieces available in the upcoming weeks.

Now, onto the recipe. I was thinking with the raining weather that something warm and soothing would be great. So how about some slow cook soup. Give it a try and let me know how you like it.

Slow Cooker Creamy Potato Soup

"This is a very rich and creamy soup. A great family favorite. It may be cooked on the stove or in a slow cooker. Garnish with chives, if desired."

PREP TIME 30 Min
COOK TIME 6 Hrs 30 Min
READY IN 7 Hrs

INGREDIENTS:

6 slices bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 onion, finely chopped
2 (10.5 ounce) cans condensed chicken broth
2 cups water
5 large potatoes, diced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed
1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups half-and-half cream
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk

DIRECTIONS:

Place bacon and onion in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until bacon is evenly brown and onions are soft. Drain off excess grease. Transfer the bacon and onion to a slow cooker, and stir in chicken broth, water, potatoes, salt, dill weed, and white pepper. Cover, and cook on Low 6 to 7 hours, stirring occasionally. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and half-and-half. Stir into the soup along with the evaporated milk. Cover, and cook another 30 minutes before serving.

I am busy working on some new designs so I will just share my menu with you for this week. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Orange Rosemary Chicken

"It's fabulous hot or cold. I make a big batch so there are leftovers (which make tasty quesadillas). I move my oven rack to a lower setting to keep the chicken moist, and even then it barely takes 30 minutes."

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups orange juice
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
3 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (2.5 pound) whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces

DIRECTIONS:

In a medium bowl, mix the orange juice, olive oil, chives, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Place the chicken in the mixture. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator at least 4 hours. Preheat the oven broiler. Arrange the chicken on a baking sheet. Broil 30 minutes in the preheated oven, 6 to 8 inches from heat. Turn and brush frequently with the remaining marinade mixture, until no longer pink and juices run clear.

Menu Mondays

Hooray and Happy Monday to you!!

I am so excited that the weather is warming up and the sun is shining bright. Okay, Valentines day is just around the corner I hope you have some sweets for your sweetie. If not, try making this Chocolaty goodness. I am sure they will love for it!!

Chocolate Cheesecake II
"Chocolaty goodness in a cheesecake!"

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs

2 tablespoons white sugar

1/4 cup butter, melted

1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

3 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

1 cup white sugar

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

3 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F ( 175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 inch springform pan.

In a small bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs, 2 tablespoons sugar, and melted butter. Press onto the bottom and 1 1/2 inch up the sides of the prepared 9 inch springform pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 minutes. Allow to cool. Reduce oven temperature to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

To Make Filling: In a small saucepan, heat 1/4 cup whipping cream and 1/4 cup chocolate chips, stirring constantly, until chips are melted. Remove from heat. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and 1 cup of sugar until smooth. Add cocoa and beat well. Add eggs and beat on low until just blended. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla and reserved chocolate mixture until blended. Pour over crust. Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 45 to 50 minutes or until center is almost set.

To Make Topping: In a small saucepan, heat 1/4 cup whipping cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla until just before boiling. Stir constantly and be careful not to boil over. Have 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips ready in a small bowl. Pour in the hot cream and stir with a spoon until smooth. Spread over baked cheesecake and refrigerate overnight.

Hello All,

Okay I have a dish for you today to really fill your stomach. I love southern cooking and my favorite foodnetwork cook is Paula Dean. She is the best to me when it come to down home cooking. Well, this dish isn't from her but I think it has a southern flair. Give it a try:

Black Skillet Beef With Greens and Red Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients:

1 pounds beef, top round steak
1 tablespoon paprik
1 1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper, black
1/8 teaspoon pepper, red ground
1/8 teaspoon mustard, dry
8 potato(es), red, halved
3 cup(s) onion(s), finely chopped
2 cup(s) broth, beef
2 clove(s) garlic, minced
2 large carrot(s), peeled, cut into very thin, 2 1/2-inch strips
2 bunch(es) mustard greens, (or kale or turnip greens) stems removed, coarsely torn

Preparation:

1. Partially freeze beef. Thinly slice across grain into long strips 1/8-inch thick and 3 inches wide.
2. Combine paprika, oregano, chili powder, garlic powder, black pepper, red pepper, and dry mustard. Coat strips of meat with spice mixture.

3. Spray large, heavy skillet with nonstick coating. Preheat pan over high heat. Add meat and cook, stirring, for five minutes. Then add potatoes, onion, broth, and garlic, and cook covered over medium heat for 20 minutes. Stir in carrots, lay greens over top, and cook covered until carrots are tender, about 15 minutes.

4. Serve in large serving bowl with crusty bread for dunking.

Do I have any football fans out there. Well in honor of SuperBowl Sunday coming up I would share a recipe for some also wings. I found this recipe on allrecipes.com How about hot, crispy, and ready to set your mouth ablaze, chicken wings are a game day staple. But not every wing recipe needs to set off the fire alarm--sweet and sour, garlic, Cajun, and original Buffalo-style sauces all taste great. Just pick your favorite flavor, make a few tasty dips, and break out the napkins.

BBQ Chicken Wings

PREP TIME 15 Min
COOK TIME 45 Min
READY IN 9 Hrs

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup teriyaki sauce 1 cup oyster sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1/4 cup gin
2 dashes liquid smoke flavoring
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 pounds chicken wings, separated at joints, tips discarded
1/4 cup honey

DIRECTIONS:

In a large bowl, mix the teriyaki sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, gin, liquid smoke, and sugar. Place the chicken wings in the bowl, cover, and marinate in the refrigerator 8 hours or overnight. Preheat the grill for low heat. Lightly oil the grill grate. Arrange chicken on the grill, and discard the marinade. Grill the chicken wings on one side for 20 minutes, then turn and brush with honey. Continue grilling 25 minutes, or until juices run clear.

Happy Monday All,

Well, are you all thawed out yet? It seems this past week the East Coast was nothing but frigid temperatures and tons of snow. We got over 12 inches and it seemed to not stop falling. I found a dish to help you take the chill out of January. How about a big bowl of stew! Nothing like stew to warm you up on those chilly January days. Now, if you are on the West Coast this is still a great dish to try out as well. This dish offers a nice twist on stews and also help stretch your dollar at the table. Just add the meat and a few basic vegetables for an easy, satisfying dish.

Kielbasa Skillet Stew

PREP TIME 20 Min
COOK TIME 45 Min
READY IN 1 Hr 5 Min

INGREDIENTS :

5 bacon strips

1 medium onion, chopped

1 pound smoked kielbasa sausage, thinly sliced

2 (15.5 ounce) cans great Northern beans, undrained

2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce

1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies

2 medium carrots, thinly sliced

1/2 medium green pepper, chopped

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

1/8 teaspoon pepper

DIRECTIONS:

In a 12-in. skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove to paper towel to drain.
In drippings, cook onion and sausage until the onion is tender; drain.
Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally. Crumble bacon and sprinkle on top.

Hello All,

Okay I decided that I would start Menu Mondays. I know how busy our lives can get when we are creating. So I thought I would share a recipe with you that would be quick and easy to prepare on those busy crafting days. I think I will try this one for dinner tonight.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

"Flavorful recipe for this farm raised fish that is easy and done in minutes! The fish is broiled with a creamy cheese coating for an impressive flavor and texture."

PREP TIME - 5 Min
COOK TIME - 10 Min
READY IN - 15 Min

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
2 pounds tilapia fillets

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat your oven's broiler. Grease a broiling pan or line pan with aluminum foil.
In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, butter, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Season with dried basil, pepper, onion powder and celery salt. Mix well and set aside.
Arrange fillets in a single layer on the prepared pan. Broil a few inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the fillets over and broil for a couple more minutes. Remove the fillets from the oven and cover them with the Parmesan cheese mixture on the top side. Broil for 2 more minutes or until the topping is browned and fish flakes easily with a fork. Be careful not to over cook the fish.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Here are a few Artisty New Year resolutions for myself. Let me know some of your resolutions. Happy Creating!!!

1. I'll set aside at least 30 minutes a day to do something creative or inspiring.

2. I'll try something new.

3. I'll give more of myself to others.

4. I'll view the world differently.

5. I'll enjoy everyday!!!

Okay, after the sweets and treats of the holidays, it's time to get back on track with some healthy food choices. I found this great site called AllRecipes which makes sticking to this year's resolutions easier to follow with dishes that are just as tasty as they are healthy.

This one sounds yummy:

Almond-Orange Tossed Salad
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup sliced almonds
4 cups torn iceberg lettuce
4 cups torn romaine
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1 large ripe avocado, peeled and cubed
1/2 cup diced celery
2 green onions, sliced

DRESSING:
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a small skillet over medium-low heat, cook sugar, without stirring for 12-14 minutes or until melted. Add almonds; stir quickly to coat. Remove from the heat; pour onto waxed paper to cool.
2. In a large serving bowl, combine the ice berg lettuce, romaine, oranges, avocado, celery, onions and almonds. In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine the dressing ingredients; shake well. Drizzle over salad; toss gently to coat.

Holiday Wishes...

Just the word "Thanksgiving," has always evoked a fond nostalgia...the aroma of the turkey. Cranberry sauce and lace tablecloths.

Thanksgiving also reminds me of family traditions which I believe is the glue that binds one generation to another. They give kids and parents something to look forward to, as well as something to count on during the hectic holiday season...and throughout the year.

Here is a collection of some favorite family traditions.

HolidayPractice Random Acts of kindness

Each time a family member does a good deed, tie a red, gold, or white ribbon on the tree. Each ornament means something, and the practice encourages giving, too.

Give all the kids new pajamas on Christmas Eve. Make a family event out of choosing the Christmas tree. My husband has fond memories of that day...getting together with family and friends, finding the perfect Christmas tree, playing in the snow, and coming home to a feast.

Secret Santas. Play Secret Santa to another family or to each other. It's even more fun if the other party isn't in on the plan.

Keep a journal for your family from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Record thoughts, events, and memories. Young children can dictate stories and make collages, and they'll love writing their wish list in the journal. Then wrap it and share it on Christmas morning. Record thoughts, events, and memories. This journal is bound to be a keepsake, and you can use add to it next holiday season.

Celebrate New Year's Eve with the family. If your kids are too young to stay up until midnight, turn the clocks back and celebrate before their bedtime. Just before the hour, make some family resolutions.

Here is one of my favorite recipes to make during the holiday season. Hopefully it is one of yours as well.

Cornbread Dressing
Ingredients

· 1 cup self-rising cornmeal
· 1/2 cup self-rising flour
· 3/4 cup milk
· 2 eggs
· 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
· Cornbread
· 7 slices dried white bread (can use the oven for this or a toaster)
· 1 sleeve saltine crackers
· 2-1/2 cups celery, chopped
· 2 medium onions, chopped
· 3 eggs, beaten
· 8 tablespoons butter
· 7-1/2 cups chicken stock or broth
· 1 teaspoon salt
· Freshly ground black pepper
· 2 teaspoons fresh sage, chopped
· 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning (optional)

Cornbread Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Combine all ingredients and mix well.
3. Pour batter into a greased 9x9x2-inch or equivalent baking dish. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.

Dressing Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Mix crumbled cornbread, dried white bread slices and saltines together in a large bowl and set aside.
3. In a large skillet, sauté the chopped celery and onion in butter until transparent, approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Pour this over cornbread mixture.
4. Add the chicken broth or stock and mix well. Add salt, pepper, sage and poultry seasoning.
5. Add beaten eggs and mix well.
6. Pour into a large greased 3-quart pan or casserole dish and bake about 45 minutes.

Good eats.

Family Ghost Stories

Hello All,

Have a Jolly Halloween!! Do any of you have any family ghost stories? Most people know of at least one ghost story that has been told as being true within their family. Many of us even remember living near a haunted house when we were young. As children we tend to believe these ghost stories are real, but by the time we grow up we often consider ghosts to be as mythical as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny or the Great Pumpkin. But, in some cases this isn't alway true. I know I have experienced some things as an adult that made the hair on the back of neck stand up.

However, as a child I believe we are more in turn with our senses or should I say our sixth sense. I have so many true life ghost stories I could talk about them for days but I wanted to share a couple with you today. First one is when I was about seven or eight I would spend many of my summers with at my grandmothers house and she had the most wonderful old victorian house. It had all the great achitectual detailing and the glass door knobs. I just loved it. There were hidden rooms and antiques for days. I think that is why I love anything thing vintage. Well, I recall my older cousins would always tell me stories of an older man that they would see either in the basement or on the fourth floor. So, they didn't like spending to much time over grandmoms. But, I didn't believe them I thought that they were trying to be mean as yound kids sometime do. I hadn't seen anything and I loved spending time with my granny. Well, whenever I would visit the thought of this older man would immediately cross my mind but I would immediately tuck it back inside for safe keeping. Well, this one day I decided that I wanted to venture down into the basement. Now, my grandmom's basement was filled with so many great things it was a little girls play palace. It had books, dishes,pots and pans, even a vintage washing maching. You know the kind that you had to hand roll the clothes through to rink them out. Clothes for dressing up and so much more. So, I had venture downstairs. As I walked down the steps which seemed to lightly creek underneath my feet I started to feel a slight chill. But, I didn't think anything of it because I figured it was the basement and all basements were a bit chilly. Well, I decided that my first stop would be in the kitchen were I would pretend to bake a cake and do the laundry for the day. I played for a bit then I started to hear foot steps I thought it was just my grandmother coming to see what I was doing but I looked around and I didn't see anyone so I continued to play. After I was done with my chores I decided to make my way to the library which was located on the other side of the basement. I thought checking out books from the library would be fun to play. As I entered the room filled with all this books which seemed to line the walls from the floor to the ceiling. I decided to take a few of the books off the shelves and place them on the desk which was in the center of the room. Well, again, I hear the footsteps and this time they seemed to be right in the room next to the desk. I was a bit nervous at this point as I turned around. I had a very eery feeling that someone was watching me just staring wondering why I was bothering there books. Now keep in mind I put a few of the books on the table and when I looked back at the desk one of the books was open and I know I didn't do it. So, I decided to get me but from down there as I was leaving out of library I glanced back and saw the silouhette of an older man standing at the desk he looked at me and then looked down as if he was reading the book where he had opened it. I ran up the steps so fast that I dont think I touched one step. (lol) Pretty CREEPY!! I know I didn't go in the basement for a long time after that happened.

I have one more story to share with you. When I was about twelve my sweet grandmother went to be with the LORD. Which hurt my heart so much because we would have so much fun together. Well, the morning of her funeral my mother and I were at home getting ready and I can remeber walking past the kitchen and glancing in and seeing my grandmother sitting at our kitchen table. She noticed me and smiled at me. She looked so happy and she was dress so nice. She had on her Sunday best as if she was headed for church. As we would do so many Sundays together. I remeber her suit was a grey pinstripe with a beautiful pink blouse underneath. She also had on her antique pearl necklace and earrings. I remeber those bcause I would play dress up with those whenever I would go to visit. Now keep in mind this vision of her wasn't long. It was only for a second. You know one of those times when you glance and you look back and then it isn't there anymore. But, the glance seem to leave a lasting image with me. As if you wanted me to remeber her. Well, here is the EERY part. Once we arrived at the funeral parlor and it was time for us to sayour farewells. I can remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing up when I saw my grandmother. Can you believe she waswearing exactly the same outfit that I saw her in when she was sitting at our kitchen table that morning. Scary Huh?? But, I know that was her just telling me good-bye. :) Let me know if you have any family ghost stories.

I've been away for awhile

Let me first apologize to my loyal readers. I’ve been away for awhile. Lots of my readers and friends have been wondering where I’ve been and when I would be posting again. Well, I could blame it on lack of time or I could blame it on all of the crazy running around I’ve been doing this summer. I have been wrapped up with family and just life. You know life sometimes takes you through different twists and turns and you have just ride them out. I have been doing that for awhile now. But, I am happy to say that things are slowly getting back to the norm.

So, I know I have alot of catching up to do. During my time away I’ve been doing plenty, alot with family and friends and working on design ideas. I am so excited that my Demdaco line is doing so well. If you have a chance go to the website to see my 2008 winter line. This is a powerful coming-of-age story about the ability of love to transform our lives. The movies stars the talented young Dakota Fanning. Rain, Rain, Go Away

Hello All,

All I can say today is Rain, Rain, Go Away, Come Again Another Day. I snapped this shot of the cutest little thing. I was coming from the coffee shop in town today and looked up and saw these cute little pink boots and dollhouse in the window and had to take a shot. I know its not the clearest photo but I think it is so sweet to see on this gloomy rainy day. I sometimes love rainy days. The sounds of the raindrops on the window pane can be soothing to the hear. I also, have time to stop and just listen. I can remember as a child when I would visit my grandmother and there would be a rain storm. Everyone would have to turn off everything from televisions to lights and just sit down and listen. I don't know why but I guess she thought lightning would strike or something. I enjoyed it anyway, because my imagination allowed me to see how the rain would dance on the leaves or race down the flower petals or play the music notes to a songs as it hit the window pane. Something to think about the next time it rains. I also enjoy writing in my journal now. It seemed so foriegn to me before until my best friend told me how fun it would be to express your thought onto paper. Thanks Ebani, Love Ya!!

But anywhoo, I am busy working in my studio getting samples ready for DEMDACO as well managing my family life. My sweet daughter had a music recital yesterday. She was so excited because the music teacher selected her for a solo part. She got to play the Glockenspiel. I had no clue what the heck a glockenspiel was but once I saw it, I thought that it reminded me of a xylophone but I was told that they are totally different instruments. I tried to take photos but my trusty camera would not cooperate. The lighting was really bad. I was so upset. But, her teacher told me she would send me photos. I am also excited for my son. He recently got accepted into the local art guild. I think he is an awesome young artist. He is 15 years old and excited about pursuing a career as an artist for movies or chemical engineer. Whichever he decides, I will support him. Here are a few photos of his recent drawings.

The front would have the boy holding the cord with the saying, "The Influence can be positive or negative". Then the back would have all the media equipment with the saying, "You Decide". I thought he could make up others like this and sell. I am looking for a T-Shirt company that could place his artwork on T-Shirts. If you know of any let me know.

Spring into Spring

Hello All,

Well I can't believe it. Tonight we are suppose to Spring ahead one hour. Usually when I think about springing ahead the weather is much nicer. Well, we got slammed the past two days with about 20 inches of snow. I knew we were in for a big storm with the schools dismissed the kids early on friday. But, I didn't realize how much. 20 inches. Oh My Gosh!! This is my first really big snow since moving back to Ohio. Last year, we did get that much snow. But, I guess this year makes up for last years loss (lol). Trying to shovel was useless. Whenever we would shovel it would just drift back so we just said we would wait until the snow stopped. Well, it is still going so, maybe tomorrow we can shovel our way out.

I am happy I was able to get my swap piece mailed off the other day. I recently participate in the Beat the Winter Blues Swap hosted by Viv (Viv's Whimsy). I was so excited when I found out who my swap partner would be. The amazing and talented Debra Schoch (HopHopJingleBoo). She should have recieved her piece. I hope she enjoys her goodies. I will post pics after she gets it. I want her to be first to see. I can't wait to see what I receive from her. I just know it will be wonderful.

Happy Leap Day!!! Happy Birthday to all you leap babies!!! Must be nice to grow a year older every four years!!

2. Dumpster diving and road side finds are also something I do almost anywhere for a good piece of art (My hubby and kids call me crazy for doing it.)

Hello all,

It is so nice to have friends. Dear friends are hard to find. I have found a few whom I cherish so much they are dear to my hear and bring my peace of mind. All of my friends are one of a kind and I thank GOD for them everyday. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all my birthday wishes and wonderful gifts that I received last week for my birthday. It was such a pleasant surprise when I received all my goodies. Here are a few photos of some of the wonderful gifts I received. I got tons and tons of cards, and emails. which was so nice.

My dear friend Sylvia Anderson made me a beautiful necklace. It the one with the cupid silohuette. She also sent me alot of other goodies that I will be using soon at a Sally Jean class that I will be taking in Hampton,VA. I am going with Gina Smith. I am excited about going to this event. Mary also sent me near and dear. See created me a hand crafted card and some vintage butterflies. That was so sweet of her. My friend Jackie who is a sweetheart has a special touch with senitment gifts. She sent me a adorable card and yummy chocolates with a sweet angel inside. I will love it always. I am praying for you during this time. I hope you feel better soon. I also bought a few things for myself. My daughter said she was inspired by my Valentine's bunny that I made to create this card. My son loves to draw. He title is "drowning in your love". I thought that was so sweet of him. I think they are both talented. My daughter is 8 and my son is 15.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. I hope you have a heartfelt day. As you know someone special is usually on our minds on Valentine's Day. We usually celebrate our relationships by exchanging gifts, cards and candies. Many times we have a delicious candlelight dinner with the person you love. But there are others on Valentine's Day who may not be so lucky as to share a hot, nutritious meal with someone they love. Just take a few minutes or a few hours today to be a Sweetheart to someone. Meaning, give a neighbor a call and wish them a Happy Valentine's Day. Maybe, stop by and give sweets to someone you know who may have lost a love one and needs a bit of love today. Or take a dish to an older relative or neighbor an send them Valentine wishes. I am sure it would brighten their day. Just a thought. Something that was on my mind and thought I would share it with everyone.

Valentine Traditions

I hope everyones New Year is off to a great start. I am excited about the upcoming year and what it has to offer. Before you know it February will be here. and time for all those Valentine Traditions

Did you know that hundreds of years ago in England, many children dressed up as adults on Valentine's Day. They went singing from home to home. One verse they sang was:
Good morning to you, valentine;
Curl your locks as I do mine ---
Two before and three behind.
Good morning to you, valentine.

In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favorite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, "You unlock my heart!"

In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.

In some countries, a young woman may receive a gift of clothing from a young man. If she keeps the gift, it means she will marry him.

Some people used to believe that if a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentine's Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man and be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a millionaire.

A love seat is a wide chair. It was first made to seat one woman and her wide dress. Later, the love seat or courting seat had two sections, often in an S-shape. In this way, a couple could sit together -- but not too closely!

Think of five or six names of boys or girls you might marry, As you twist the stem of an apple, recite the names until the stem comes off. You will marry the person whose name you were saying when the stem fell off.

Pick a dandelion that has gone to seed. Take a deep breath and blow the seeds into the wind. Count the seeds that remain on the stem. That is the number of children you will have.

If you cut an apple in half and count how many seeds are inside, you will also know how many children you will have.

Wonderful Surprises

I was feeling a bit down earlier today after I talked about the Mean Grinch who has been stealing a lot of things. I just couldn't wait to post about the wonderful surprises I received in the mail today!!! It really helped me feel a lot better. I received a very nice arrangement of chocolates and treats from DEMDACO. Well, there goes my diet at least until the new year. (ha,ha,ha) I also received an awesome gift from my friend Jackie of FatJak Originals. I recently went to Chicago and we had an opportunity to hang out. It was a lot of fun. Well, when I was in St. Charles I bought this really cool Tara Handknit hat. I found out that these products are truly handmade with the most basic ingredients of wool fibers, rich dyestuff and bare hands. They also have sweaters, scarves, mittens and dolls. The quality in craftsmanship and the rich and colorful dyes are great. The textures and the unique designs of these products will surely become one your favorites. Also, the benefit from the sell of these items go to the women of Nepal. After returning home, I was kicking myself because I didn't buy the matching scarf. So, when I received a package today it was such a nice surprise to open and find the wonderful scarf that I admired at the store. Thanks, Jackie I love it!! You are a sweetheart!! You're A Mean One Mr Grinch

Unfortunately, I have a Mean Grinch in my life. I have been debating weather or not I should post this message or not. But, I needed to vent and get this off my chest. I think I am a pretty generous person and I try to help out people. Well, some person or persons have decided to help themselves to a lot of my craft supplies, books, fabrics, paints, and antiques. My family and I relocated to Central Ohio about a year ago. We had our home built in a rural area because we wanted more land to do more things with the family. And the area is suppose to be a great place to raise your family. Well since we have moved here someone has been coming in and stealing my things. Now, this isn't your typical thief that comes in and leaves your home in chaos. Things aren'tdisorganized and out of place. As if they didn't want you to know they were there. But, until you start to go into boxes and drawers you notice things are gone. It is very strange and very disturbing. So of course I filed a police report the officer thought I was strange to file a report about a burglar who steals crafts and leaves other valuables like televisions and electronics unharmed. But this is really happening.
So, in the summer we got a security system installed and I thought my troubles were over but I continued to found things disappearing or fabrics that I know I had several yards of dwindle down to nearly nothing. So, I don't know what to do. Somehow this Grinch is bypassing the alarm but I don't know how. If anyone out there knows about security systems email for some suggestions. I will have to figure out what to do. I hate to falsely accuse anyone of doing this but I am starting to think it may be someone in our subdivision. Because where our home is located everyone knows when you leave and come back. I am thankful that my family is okay but I a sick and tired of this person or persons violating my home and stealing all of my stuff.
If anyone has any suggestions for me please email me privately and let me know. I hate to talk about this with everyone but I had to vent and get this out. I want this Grinch to see their evil ways and stop stealing.

Hello All,

I figured I better get this done because it has be awhile since I received my first tag from Viv's Whimsy. I apologize for my delay in responding to your email. I finally had a opportunity to visit everyone and I noticed I was tagged by a few others The Polka Dot Pixie and Sadie Lou Who of Craftilyeverafter. Okay ladies here are 5 random things about me:

1. Growing up I had a weird taste palette. I would combine some weird things together to snack on. I would take wonder bread and pour sugar or syrup on them and eat as a sandwich. Yummy Yummy. I would sometimes add peanut butter too. Another favorite of mine was "wish sandwiches" I would just eat mayo and bread and wish I had some meat inside. ha, ha, ha I know it was weird, but I thought they were quite delicious.

2. I love music a lot. So growing up I would collect posters and buttons of my favorite singers. I had over 500 posters and buttons. My walls were covered in posters and I would wear my buttons on my jacket and jeans. I thought I was sooo coool. : ) Each jacket would be dedicated to a different singer. for example Michael Jackson, Boy George, Wham!!, New Editions, Cyndi Lauper and Prince. Just to name a few. I also liked big band music and Motown classics. So, I was all over the board. I think my mom played alot of oldies but goodies when she was pregnant with me because I just love listening to them.

3. Being a latch-key kid and only child, I loved to watch television a lot and read books. And like the Polka Dot Dixie. I would make sure I would rush home from school to watch the little rascals; Alfalfa and Darla were fun! But, I loved Spanky. Land of the Lost was another favorite of mine. Don't know if you remember the show. but it was sort of like the Robinsons' but in prehistoric time.

4. I love to go horseback riding. Growing up my mom would take me riding all the time. A few summers I spend at a horseback riding camp which was so much fun!!

5. Okay, the big five, ummm...what can I say? Oh! I know, I am a big fan of retro arcade games. I miss going to our corner store to play video games with my friends. I must say, I was not a girly girl. More of a tom boy. But, I did like to wear a dress now and then : ). Any whoo back to the games. My favorite games were Centipede and Pac Man and honorable mention Donkey Kong.

I know I am a big kid at heart. I would still do all of these things except for the sugar sandwiches. Ha Ha Ha!!

Hello All,

Just a few more weeks before Christmas is here. It is finally starting to feel like Christmas here. We got about 4 inches of snow and we are due to get more today. I will be hibernating this weekend. (lol)

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Hello All,

Do you remember the 1987 movie staring Steve Martin and John Candy. Where all he wants to do is get home for the holiday. Unfortuately he experiences a stings of unforuately events alone the way. Well, this pass week was like that for me. Let me tell what happened. My dear hubby and I were invited to Chicago for there Christmas so well dedicated to go we figured it would be a nice getway and my mother-in-law would watch the kids for us. Well we knew that the weather was bad in Chicago a few days ago but little did we know that the storms were headed our way. So the morning that we were leaving to catch our plane is when the storm hit. I took us about 2 hours just to drive to the airport when it normally take about 30 minutes. After arriving to the airport we find out that our flight was cancel. So that placed us on a second flight. And oncce again that flight got cancel. The third time was the charm. We manage to keep that flight so. He we are on the plane and the captain says there will be a delay in our leaving due to the weather and other planes ahead of us and we still have to be de-iced and are number 11 for departure. Now, I don't want to seem as if I am complaining becuase I was rather wait to ensure the safety of everyone that rush off and something bad happen. So once we are finally in the air we find out there is another delay in landing because they had to clear the run ways at Midway and were number three to land. So, I just sat back and enjoy my time in the air and thought about what we going to go once we landed. After all was said and done we we there late in the afternoon. I had scheduled time to meet up with a few friends but was only able to see one. Hopefully the next time I visit the weather will be better and we all can get together.

My friend Jackie is so sweet, she showed me around St. Charles, IL for a few hours we visited a few shops in town. The first set of photos are of a fun shop called "Artemisia", this shop is full of antiques & Elements for you home and garden. The owner Debra S. Koertge was there when we stopped by. You can find things from children clothing to home decor in this shop. Most of the things are handmade but there are a few imports. I purchased a few pieces and one that I really liked alot. It was a hand knitted hat with a flower which was made in Nepal and all the benefits go to benefit the families in Nepal. Now this next shop we visited was quite grand as well. It had alot of glittery things which I love and trendy clothes and home decor. The name of the shop is "Panache" You can find vintage, antiques, and glittery surprises in the shop. Mostly handmade pieces and some imports. After speaking with the owner, Cheryl Herman she imformed me that she attend many different gift shows around the world to make her shop so unique. And it shows. Take a look at a few photos

We visited a few other shops but I didn't get photo of them. I really enjoyed my visit to a shop called Surgar Creek. I will have to get the information on this shop for you.

After visiting with Jackie the next day was the dinner party and the play. I was so excited about the going to play. I had hear so many good things about but I never seen it before. Oh, the name of the play would be helpful. It called "Wicked". It was great!! The food was as good. But we so enjoyed the play. Can you believe it. We only have a few more weeks before Christmas. This year has gone by so quickly. I haven't started my Holiday shopping yet. AGGHHH! I better get my butt in gear. You know that saying so much to do and so little time. That is how I feel this month.

What do you think of my new banner. I love it!! It was created for me by the talented Kris Hurst of Blissfull Elements. She does awesome work. She is also creating a banner for my website too. She also has some great holiday CD's you can purchase. These CD's have vintage images I am sure you will just love. Check out her blog when you have a free moment.

I was so thrilled when I got the mail last week. I am usually a bit excited when I get the mail. I don't know why. I guess I am always expecting some goodies in the mail. Well, I received a few great things last week. I got my awesome santa from The Polka Dot Pixie. I think it is just adorable. I also recieved my lovely tiara from Tina of Glittered Crowns. I love her work. It is just wonderful. Happy Thanksgiving!!

I just wanted to wish everyone well. Don't eat to much turkey and be careful on those early morning shopping trips if you venture out. I use to do that but, not anymore. : ) Wanted to give you an update on a recent benefit auction that I participated in for The Homeless Families Foundation. I was so excited once I received notice that the fundraiser was able to raise over
